Outside Black is African. Outside Black is for Africa and more importantly, Outside Black surely supports African goodness. For this reason, when I heard that Africa Nouveau Festival was going down at Ngong’ Racecourse for three days and two nights, I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to be part of it.
AFRICA NOUVEAU FESTIVAL
The festival describes itself as a music and arts festival congregating creators, curators and fans. The festival focuses on alternative and progressive sights and sounds from Africa consequently expanding the understanding of Africa.
The theme for 2018 was #AfroBubbleGum that was derived from a growing consciousness among African creatives that their output need not be about the usual hunger, starvation, war, AIDS among others that is often expected from African creative work.
BEFORE THE FUN, THE FIERCE & THE FANTASTICAL
The stage decoration was proper, an impressive effort by the team! The eclectic mix of Africa all around rightly set the stage for all the fun that would certainly go down during the entire festival.
I caught up with Muthoni Drummer Queen (MDQ) who had her OOTD in check! I loved her outfit. I remember her mentioning its name but I am really bad with outfit names. Kill me now!
Later on, I caught up with the legendary Blinky Bill.
I have a confession guys! So, I did not know Kwesta before Africa Nouveau and yet he was right there before me. I didn’t talk to him neither did I take a portrait of him. Kill me again!
DAY 1 IN PICTURES
